Kate Miller-Heidke Shares Odd Restaurant Encounter

Pop artist Kate Miller-Heidke

checked in with fans on her blog at MySpace on Friday (February 8) with the following message:

Something strange happened to me today. I was ordering some Vietnamese takeaway for me and Keir, when the guy behind the counter says ‘This might sound weird, and I don’t even like her, but are you Kate Miller-Heidke’?

‘Actually yes I am, and thanks for letting me know that you don’t like me’ I said awkwardly.

He got a slightly bemused look on his face and then replied ‘Well, I like her, I just don’t like her music.’

Notwithstanding the fact that it is impossible to like me and not my music (unless you are a close personal friend, and even then it would be a sticking point), why did he continue to refer to me IN THE THIRD PERSON?

Is this something to do with watching too much TV? You see someone on TV and your sense of them is perpetually two-dimensional? So much so that seeing them in the flesh just doesn’t make sense?

I suppose it then follows that it’s okay to tell a complete stranger that you don’t like them, just because they happen to be ordering takeaway from you?

Musicians are people too!
