Kate Nash spoke with NME.com after winning Best Solo Artist at the 2008 Shockwaves NME Awards. The singer songwriter talked about winning her first NME gong and drinking free whiskeys at the bar to celebrate.
Talking about winning her first NME award, Kate said, “I’m genuinely really surprised. I was like not nervous about today at all because I was like Amy Winehouse has won it, that’s cool, I’ll just go to see it and boo people and cheer people and get drunk. Then I was like I’m being quite rubbish (with my speech). As you can see I’m being quite rambley. It’s one of those rambley days. I’m really inarticulate and not eloquent at all.”
Asked about how she’ll celebrate, Kate said, “Well I want to go back now because I want to make sure the Cribs get an award and I want to be like ‘Hooray!’ So I’m gonna drink free whiskeys at the bar.”
