Boy Toy Jesse of KIIS FM caught up with Kelly Clarkson in Paradise Island the other day, where the ‘American Idol’ season one champ talked about what she’ll be doing there in her downtime – napping, teaming with Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic on the new album, being “totally single”, and running into other ‘Idol’ stars at Disney World.
On her hit making formula evidenced with ‘Since U Been Gone’, Kelly said, “Same writers as well. Max and Luke are really great at that formula writing where everyone wants to sing it at the drunk moment. So it’s definitely that song. I don’t know. I grew up listening to Annie Lennox and Reba and all those kind of chick kind of powerhouses so I love it. I love those songs.”
As for what Kelly does in her off time, she said, “Honestly, I’m gonna sound very boring. I just flew in late last night and I had to get up very early, so I’m probably gonna be napping after this and the next thing I have to do. Just because I don’t want to be bad for the performance.”
On getting back on stage again, Kelly said, “I am stoked. I’m sad because we only have one new song, ‘My Life’, which is what we’re playing tonight’s show that’s new. I can’t wait for people to hear the whole album.”
On the process of creating the album, she said, “I guess a little over a year with different writers. I met Ryan a year ago, Ryan Tedder, and we started. The first song we nailed down, ‘All I Ever Wanted’, was around the same time.”
