Kelly Overcomes Insecurities And Makes Mom Proud

Access Hollywood chatted with Kelly Clarkson’s proud mom Jeanne Taylor who looked on Wednesday night as her daughter was named the ‘American Idol’. What made this win special for Jeanne was knowing how Kelly overcame her insecurities and broke out of the pack. “All these months of, you know, listening to her be — you know, she felt discouraged because in the beginning they didn’t pay very much attention to her. You know, she got discouraged because she said ‘I don’t know what else to do’. You know, ‘I’m not as pretty as the other girls’, ‘I’m not as thin as the other girls’. So it was a little bit discouraging for her. And I said, you know, it’s much harder to be at the top and to stay there than it is to go from the bottom and come up. It’s so much easier.”
