In an interview with Australia’s ABC News, country music legend Kenny Rogers said he thinks shows like ‘American Idol’ have had a positive effect on music. “It actually has changed the landscape of music because before, as a rule, any artist’s career that went straight up went straight down. That’s just the rule of thumb,” he said. “You kinda had to build and get a little education, a little experience before you could really sustain a long career. But these guys are playing to 30 million people, 50 million people a night for 13, 14, 15 weeks so they have a fan base. It’s yet to see how long it’s gonna last, but I would tend to think their odds are better than people who just come up with a hot record to start with.” Read more.
