Kiely Williams ‘Spectacular’ Video

Kiely Williams is out with the music video to her new single ‘Spectacular’, off the former 3LW/ member’s debut solo album, out later this year. The racy video, in contrast to her time with the Disney girl group, has received a fair degree of criticism, prompting Williams to address the complaints.

I am an actor and performer. I have been so since my first role in a television pilot at five years old. I played a character when I was a Cheetah Girl. I am playing a character in the music video for the song Spectacular, as I did in the Cheetah Girl movies. Young women across the country get intoxicated and have unprotected sex. That’s a fact. I recorded the song to bring attention to this frighteningly prevalent activity. It is absurd to infer or suggest that I am condoning this behavior.

This is so pathetic I can’t even begin to describe…

I saw this video and the rebuttal that she made. I can understand why she says she put this video out. She claims, that there are A LOT of women who get drunk and go home with men they don’t know or can’t even remember their names
in the morning. I get the message, but not a GREAT way to deliver it.

  4. KingTrinbago says:

This is so foolish. Lol! a) the lyrics are absolute garbage, b) she can not sing, c) the video is so stupid.

This bitch wasted 3mins and 57secs of my life.

In your comment on this video you have said that your aim in recording this song was ‘to bring attention to this frighteningly prevalent activity’, the activity being ‘Young women across the country get intoxicated and have unprotected sex’. I am afraid to say that for people that watch the video without your explanation you will have failed in this aim. So if you have made sure that this is the message accompanying this video wherever it is displayed, it could maybe be alright, but I doubt you are able to ensure this. If you want to raise awareness on the issue I suggest scraping this video and trying a different angle.

  6. Chelsea says:

If the lyrics had been something like “The sex was spectacular…but I caught an STD”…then I’d get that she’s trying to raise awareness against one night stands…but the fact that she says that the sex was spectacular and ‘he could get it again if he wanted” kinda promotes something else.

Her explanation was a major fail. My guess is that her statement was her attempt at saving what little rep she has left.

This is a shame….She should be embarressed!!

  8. Erica says:

She made quite a big leap from her Chetah Girls songs and image to this video where she resembles a hooker. I’m not sure if she thinks she is obligated to sing about sex and dress scantily in order to boost her career. Not only was the song horrible but it in no way projects the message she claims to be promoting, in fact I think it does quite the opposite, it sends the message that having sex and being drugged up or drunk makes for spectacular sex and she would do it again. How does that in any way promote that young women should refrain from this type of destructive behavior? If that was the message she was trying to promote she should have scrapped the “The sex is spectacular” line all together and went with something that sent the message that there can be serious ramifications. I don’t know if her parents of guardians have any input into her career and what this young woman does but if she was my daughter I would be embarrassed, and If I was her I would be ashamed. Although I think this is a bad road to head down career wise the shock of it may be getting people’s attention which may have been the objective.

Well gee I loved it, every second was power packed and she is beautiful. good to see a girl with an attitude. She was sexy (very) and HOT , some girls look so god damn sexy going out that drives us males wild. being young and into this behaviour it’s about time everyone woke up and smelt the roses. She obviously has talent and is so much more sexy than a whore. who cares if she is out on the town. She wanted it and she got it. I goout with girls and they are in charge they have all the power. you go home and you have been deemed worthy and you better perform. they like it how they want it. so many millions of girls out there who just love it that way, we live in a wonderfully free world with free expression why not say it like it is. she has a booty to die for and wiggles her touche, he is obviously at her from behind on the dance floor, how many nights have we all done this, so we are meant to live a lie are we and have purile videos and all right and proper. no sorry everyone I liked it I live for these girls and believe me when you get one you worship her and have to behave like a a sex god and please her if you want another night like she suggests. as for the anonimity well that’s the perfect touch.

  10. Mim says:

This is a disgrace, somebody who thinks that this is a way to raise awareness of an issue is clearly delusional and ignorant. This is not an issue to be made fun of or promoted- And if she hasn’t already realized, as a singer you are representing yourself and nobody else, so to say that she was playing a character like that is ridiculous. But honestly with no self-respect, how does she think anyone else will respect her or her work?

  11. mick says:

Me again, hey lighten up MIM and all you others, I didn’t see any words about male black rap rape words and as if those guys get off Scott free. all black rap(e) music is perpetuating the male myth of porn and bitches and male rape (rap) fantasy, I don’t like it at all. great for their self esteem I suppose but what about treating women like that. I don’t go home wanting to slap my bitch up and brag about my shoe size. so when we see a woman get it up (so to speak) we come down on her ( so to speak) with a ton of anti woman and misogynistic woman hating because she is portraying a women in control of her sexuality or given the comments outta control so that makes it sinful because oh that’s right all women have to be virtuous and proper and “not look like sluts” . hay some women are , and they are no worse humans for it what are guys if they act that way (studs).
hate to spring a feminist sex stereo polarized gender rave on you but . its only a stupid little clip from a young girl who may not make it big time and yes probably can’t be taken seriously. I still stand by my original comments though- superficially it was fun sexy (different) and her fantasy well I was there if you know what I mean, I don’t wanna know if it was written by men to exploit her and how it managed to make me feel good. A lot of stuff is just taken far too seriously. I have been there and I would use a rubber I would still take advantage of the situation as long as it was consensual and she wasn’t completely out of it. How many songs mention rubber ? so it makes you think silly girl , and all that stuff. sometimes we don’t want a message we want escapism to feel good and celebrate how nice it was when I dated young black girls and they had it all happening you better believe it, you were lucky if you was white and got sum black ass. of which hers is exceptional and shaking that ass well you can only imagine (dream on).
give her a a go gee . stuck up repressed lot you are.

  12. yyyooo says:

What the hell was that!!! she really is crazy having unprotected sex

  13. KFC says:

well I am very confused- first off yo she DIDN’T have unprotected sex. it just looked like it because a naked guy was in bed and she has no clothes on. She didn’t really do it. its a freaking skit. 2, the lyrics are really dumb…??? seriously?? No. 3, I can’t believe sweet lil aqua gave her self out there to this sick world. and MICK you are just- gross. she CAN’T sing, the whole shaking her BUTT thing was just nasty. she was dancing like a stripper. in conclusion I’d have to say she is NOT my role model any more and that she has a nice life cause she has -1 applause for anything she does ANYMORE!

  14. rachel says:

umm was she going for reverse psychology??? lol.. dear what has happened to the music industry

  15. Brianna says:

lol this is so funny, she looks retarded

  16. ssgirl23 says:

haha this is as bad everyone has said it to be
she looks and sounds really crazy now

  17. mick says:

so I am gross according to KFC well who ever you are K F C the only letter missing is U . so work it out. KFC & U jumble the letters around what do U get ? when you work it out then and a space then another U except this time its you, if you don’t get it its probably why you didn’t get the clip either. KFCU you. so gross is the the whole world. millions of hot spunky people go out every night in the world and do worse than that. do you always have to have role models what about art imitating life. or would you rather live in the Arab Muslim Islamic tradition with the burqa or nuiqab , ( full body covered up and go to the church or temple or mosque instead of a night club. I bet we would f’ing contradictions in KFC’s life if they had one. what weird stuff do you get up to that makes this clip so unfamiliar and gross that people actually like it.

  18. mick says:

so all I can say is I am honest and I liked it and that’s how my life is and I am turned on by the sexy way she presents it all and the fact that all the women in the world are whores so when you get married it was invented so you don’t feel like one. society is a lie and live the lie and don’t be sexy then, women act like sluts and its about how clever they are if they get a good guy or a bad one. some get money and gifts and rings and even love some just get what they deserve. We always get blamed for womens’ behavior, I don’t know a guy who would disagree if your a girl and ask your boyfriend he will lie we all do we have to otherwise you girls would feel cheap and trashy. Ain’t nothing wrong with a girl who likes sex as much as a guy, if you don’t then maybe just maybe your a little up tight and repressed and possibly frigid ever think of that.

  22. MVS says:

what an imbecile. this is the tackiest possible way to present herself. if she liked the sex, great, but it wasn’t necessary for her to create a song about it and wear horrible clothes while dancing disturbingly. and mick, I think you’re getting a bit out of control, I think bringing up burqas is quite off topic. and I seriously doubt all men would appreciate the look of a tacky hooker. she can be a slut all she wants, but it’s completely inappropriate for her to advertise it. this sends the complete opposite message of what she’s trying to say; there is literally no possible way she can attempt to patch up the damage. I was utterly bewildered when I saw this and am still thoroughly confused. too bad aqua was my favorite…

  23. MCA says:

ok now that was just sad! In fact it was hilarious! You have to be pretty messed up to allow yourself that embarrassment, and in fact be proud of it! HAHAHAHAHAHHA how sad!

  24. Omega says:

I have always followed her career, probably the only boy that watched the Cheetah Girls movie. When I heard she had a song out, I got excited but now I’m disappointed at how the world has changed her. You don’t have to thrust your maturity on people it should be obvious. Sure this happens, but as an artist you have to have s higher standard, or at least make it mote subtle like “rude boy”. She’ll always have a fan in me but only if her song choice and portrayal of herself improves. I did like her in Stomp the yard 2, but again she was portrayed as”easy”

  25. Envy says:

As others have said, she completely fails in delivering her “message.” I quote it because I don’t believe for one second that she legitimately produced this song/video intending to raise awareness against promiscuity. She obviously is just talentless, and is trying to make money off the fact that all Top 40 music today is about sex and drinking… the only problem is she doesn’t pull it off; this song is never going to be anything more than a subject of controversy and ridicule.

  26. Envy says:

Though I should add that it’s so horrendously bad that it’s good… I actually watch this video a lot because it cracks me the fu** up. My favorite hilarious line is “What he did to me last night felt so good I must have been on drugs.” If she weren’t an unintelligent whore, I’d like to think some overly comical lines such as this one were intentionally done with an ironic or satirical tone… but somehow I think such complex thought beyond our beloved star.

  27. emjoy. says:

omg this is a joke. this actually make me LOL I use to look up to her and this is a disappointment and complete turn off I know she trying to make teens aware but bringing out stupid videos like this is not gonna do anything but encourages them since the sex is so ‘spectacular’. fail fail she should be ashamed.

  28. Ja'Colby says:

Look y’all needs to stop talking about Kiely Williams this way. Where y’all judging Lady Gaga when she sung her songs which I say I hate. Did y’all judge Rihanna when she sung her songs then stop judging Kiely Williams. Plus she’s my Favorite Singer/Actress.
