Billy Johnson Jr. of Launch.com recently spoke with Kiley Dean, who is the first R&B singer to be released on Timbaland’s Beat Club records. Asked if she thought that getting the gig as a background singer for Britney Spears was her big break, the singer responded, “Yeah–you always have to have the door swing open for you somewhere. Mariah Carey was a background singer, so was Sheryl Crow–there’s so many people that started out as background singers. Whitney Houston sang background. Everybody’s got to start somewhere, and I knew that I’ve got to pay my dues. But that wasn’t even paying your dues–I don’t want to say that. That was an experience. It was exciting, I got to learn, it was neat. I got to learn so much through her, with touring and stuff–it was just great.” Read more.

She’s R&B? She looks so much like Britney Spears so I would think she’s Pop. I haven’t heard her songs yet so I’m not really gonna judge her yet.

I don’t know if I should say that guys, because Kiley can sing really well! you would have never known she could sing so good. It makes me wonder why she was ever a back-up singer??? HOlla!
She is R&B (on Timbaland’s lable) and although I don’t like a lot of her songs (maybe like 3 or 4) she has a really nice voice and can sing really well. She sound’s like a cross between Christina and Mariah. She’s pretty good, I’m not a big fan though, but I’ll give her some props. Yeah I heard her song. The girl is tight but its funny how she said she learned something from Spears. The only thing you can really learn from the girl is lip syncing. Hopefully Kiley will not do that at her concerts.
