Harry T. Keane Jr., a Lone Star State producer and race-car driver, last week filed a federal lawsuit against Fox and producers of ‘American Idol’ last week, claiming the idea and even the set design for the popular crooning contest was ripped off from him. His suit seeks unspecified damages–the Houston Chronicle says Keane’s attorney has suggested $300 million would do for a settlement. Keane also wanted a temporary restraining order to bar the show from airing A.S.A.P. But a judge denied that request Friday, the U.S. District Court in Houston said.
