Sal Cinquemani of slant magazine reviewed the debut effort from 98 Degrees star Nick Lachey, giving ‘SoulO’ 2 out of 5 stars. He writes, “Nick Lachey’s solo debut, the unfortunately-titled ‘SoulO’, is nowhere near as embarrassing as Nick Carter’s ‘Now Or Never’, but Mr. Jessica Simpson is no JT (and he’s certainly no Ricky Martin, which is probably a more appropriate point of comparison). I agree Nick Carter solo album was AWFUL it was sh** that is why it was a major FLOP because it was CRAP. I don’t care if those five fans that bought the CD get mad at me over this but I’m just telling it like it is. Nick Carter album was AWFUL. Unlike Nick Carter Nick Lachey actually has talent so I hope he does well.
Slant Magazine? Is that like Hustler Magazine or something. Rolling Stone gave Nick’s album more stars than Timberlake. I think Rolling Stone would know.
It’s obvious why Sal put both Nick’s in this article. And it has nothing to do with the true quality of Nick Carter’s album, because it was good. The truth is it sells magazines. The media likes putting both of the Nick’s up against each other.
Slant Magazine? Never heard of it. No wonder this reviewer is so bitter. Nobody knows about his stupid magazine!
Please. Nick Lachey has half the vocal power and range that Nick Carter has, and Nick’s CD was GOOD. Plain and simple. Go take a listen, and judge for yourself. And I think it’s a good thing there aren’t a lot of Justin Timberlakes running around singing and dancing. I’m sick of one as it is.
Can we get a reviewer somewhere who knows at least a LITTLE about music? These people are so dumb….Nick’s album was far from embarrassing…..it was hot as hell, and got some great reviews by people who knew what they were talking about…… This just shows the world how arrogant this person is….. OH, and another thing….arguments filled with petty, immature, lame excuses for disses aren’t arguments at all…..just blah blah blah to those with intelligence..
Yeah and being a Backstreet Boys lover really proves to everyone that your incredibly smart (yeah right). Honey, don’t get mad just because Nick’s album failed and you know it so gather up all your Backstreet Boys crap and remember when Nick was good (oh sorry that never happened) YOU KNOW IT’S SAD BUT TRUE!
And being a hater someone proves that your opinion is more reliable? Yeah, uh huh…. And what the hell? “Nick the D!ck”? I’m a fan, so of course I’ve heard the rumors that Nick is very….well-endowed, but I’m surprised it would be of interest to you.

I know a little bit about how music works and what it takes to be a good vocalist!! I’m incredibly smart not BECAUSE I like the Backstreet Boys, but liking the Backstreet Boys is one of the smartest decisions I’ve made in my life!!! you need to grow up!! can’t you post a rebuttal that doesn’t have name calling or immaturity or other such crap? oh, wait, I forgot….nevermind…..
