Lily Allen checked in with fans on her blog at Myspace on Friday (July 14), commenting on her new single ‘Smile’ hitting #1 in the UK and how she learned about it while performing at T in the Park last weekend.
“The drive from the ferryport in Scotland to Kinross was interesting and, consisted mostly of drinking and smoking fags,” she writes. “The sun was out when we got there and it felt festivaly to me. I missed Glastonbury last year, so I was well excited about this one. We drunk and drunk and drunk some more and then I remembered that I had a gig to do. So I ate a couple of hot dogs and found it quite difficult squeezing into my ballgown. We made our way to the stage, and it seemed there were a few problems with the PA so we waited for a bit. There wasn’t much of a crowd at first but as soon as I got on stage the tent filled up to capacity and we had the most amazing gig ever, it felt really special. As if that wasn’t enough just before the end of the gig, Adrian my manager came on stage with a bottle of champagne and told me ‘Smile’ had got to number 1 in the charts. I couldn’t fu**ing believe it, the best day of my life without a doubt, the crowd went mental we sang ‘Smile’ and I got very very drunk after that. I was going up to bands backstage and being really annoying all night ‘Are you in a band? Cool, are you number 1?’ was pretty much all that came out of my mouth for the rest of the day. In other words I was being a right dick.”
