LiveonRelease Support Avril Lavigne
Despite jibes like “She’s a punk, apparently,” LiveonRelease guitarist Brittin Karroll harbours no ill will toward current teen sensation Avril Lavigne. “We support her 100% because she’s Canadian and she’s young and she’s a girl,” Karroll says. “It’s hard being in the music industry; she probably got into it before she knew what she was getting into. It’s a lot of hard work, especially being that big.”
Avril Lavigne Copes With Stardom
May 2, 2003 – Hector Saldaña San Antonio Express-News interviewed guitarist Jeff Stinco of Simple Plan not about his group, but Avril, who they currently are opening for on tour. Stinco says, “She’s a great person. She’s got really nice, beautiful values.” He added, “I wouldn’t want to be in her shoes right now. She’s so young … She’s always under the camera. It’s got to be hard for a young girl. Just having a boyfriend or even a little love affair is a huge deal for her. Like it just can’t happen.”
Avril rocks, and I’m not just saying this because she is my absolute favorite person in the entire world – well, apart from my boyfriend.
It’s because, well…the main criticism she gets is for saying she was punk and then saying she wasn’t, that she gets drunk, that she’s a poser, blah, blah, blah.
1. She never said she sung punk, she said she had been A punk. Then she said that she never claimed to be punk. That caused some petty controversy among people who have nothing better to do than hate Avril. The facts are – she was A punk, she sung songs ABOUT punks, she DOES NOT SING PUNK.
2. She gets drunk. So what? Most people do at some time or another, and yes, she was drunk recording ‘I can do better’. Must I remind people that she’s a legal adult, with every right to drink alcohol. Also, recording drunk was dumb, yes, but just get over it, it’s funny, and she’s decent for admitting to it.
3. Poser. Hmm. Well, I don’t know her personally, but I don’t think she’s a poser. She has written or co-written every single one of her songs, and she was original as a young teen, and in a way still is, but to be successful she had to change and keep up with the industry.
The point is, Avril is a genuine singer, and her private life is private, leave her alone, and if you hate her keep it to yourself, ‘cos it’s dumb to fight over whether we love Avril or not. I do. You may not.
End of story.
Luv you Avril!
