Syndicated gossip columnist Liz Smith said in her column today she’s received a ton of e-mails begging her to ask Britney Spears to get out of her new friendship with Paris Hilton. “Maybe Britney thinks Paris isn’t as low-rent as old-what’s-his name, whom she is divorcing,” Smith wondered. “Paris didn’t cover herself with glory when she threw up onstage recently in Las Vegas right in the middle of lip-syncing songs from her album. But when has Ms. Hilton ever covered herself with glory? And then Ms. Spears herself was photographed recently getting out of a car, without undies. This is why these ladies are catnip to the paparazzi.”
