Steppin’ Out magazine spoke with Lizzie Grubman about the criticism her former client Britney Spears has received for creating an image for herself that is more about the body than the voice. “I worked with her in 1999 when she had her first album out,” Grubman explained. “I worked with her for about two years. But now she’s growing up. There’s nothing wrong with what she’s doing. She was just a kid back then and now she’s an adult. That’s what she’s doing, she’s being an adult. She’s a lot different now from when I first met her when she was 17 years old.” Asked if she would advise her to change her titillating image if she was still representing the pop tart, Grubman said, “You know what, I think we have to look at her as a girl who’s just growing up.”
