Love Hewitt Wanted To Challenge Herself With ‘BareNaked’

Brendan Kelly of the Montreal Gazette spoke with about her new album ‘BareNaked’, which she says is not what many would expect to be a teen disposable-pop turf filled album. “I wanted to make a soul/rock record because that’s the kind of stuff I grew up on,” Hewitt said. “I grew up on Janis Joplin, Al Green and Billie Holiday. I knew it was a tougher thing to do, but it made it more exciting. It would’ve been a lot easier and would’ve taken half as much time to let someone else write my songs and to do a pop record. But that’s not what I wanted to do. I wanted to challenge myself.”
