Madonna Blasted For Wearing Chinchilla Fur Coat
The Independent reports Madonna has upset animal rights groups when she was seen leaving Cecconi, a London restaurant, wearing a chinchilla fur coat that might have been the product of the death of as many as 30 to 60 chinchillas. “Madonna is showing herself up to be shallow and selfish and lacking in all compassion which, particularly in this season of goodwill, is regrettable,” said Mark Glover from Respect for Animals. “The message she’s sending out to her fans is contemptible and people should stop buying her albums until she stops wearing fur.” Read more.

December 14, 2006 – Jeannette Walls of MSNBC.com spoke with PETA rep Dan Mathews after Madonna was recently out wearing a chinchilla fur, estimated to be worth $70,000. “Wearing a coat made of dozens of small, gentle animals certainly got Madonna the attention she so desperately craves,” Mathews sneered. “But she’s setting a terrible example for her children, who are learning about selfishness and greed rather than compassion.”

December 9, 2006 – The Mirror reports that just two weeks away from their sixth wedding anniversary, Madonna and Guy Ritchie had a big argument in front of stunned diners at exclusive Italian restaurant Cecconi’s in London on Wednesday (December 6). “The atmosphere between them was more than frosty,” a diner revealed. “Guy was the one who was raising his voice the most – you couldn’t help but hear what he was saying. They were sitting in a corner booth and he was telling her that he’d had enough of her being so controlling all the time and that something had to give. Madonna tried to give it back to him, but he would just talk over her. She just seemed really embarrassed. They didn’t enjoy their meal and left after about an hour and a half.”
