Madonna: Media Needs To ‘Step Off’ Britney Spears

In an interview with the Yo on E! satellite radio show, Madonna said that the media should leave her younger pop peer Britney Spears alone. “They need to step off,” Madge said. “For real … Let’s go save her.” She added that her 11-year-old daughter Lourdes feels likewise. “She knows Britney, (but) she doesn’t really watch TV or read gossip stuff,” Madonna explained. “I think she sort of gets the drift of what’s going on, and I think she feels very protective of Britney.” Madonna also called speculation that she and husband Guy Ritchie were planning on a divorce “ridiculous”.
