The Sun reports Madonna turned down a Brits Lifetime Achievement Award because she was worried it might make her look like she’s ready to hang it up. A source close to the singer said, “She is a fan of the Brits but she didn’t want to accept an award that made her look too old. Madonna is very conscious of her image as a cutting-edge artist and thought a lifetime achievement award – no matter what they call it – would make it sound like she’s reached the end of her career.”
Madonna Visits New Label Star Michelle Branch’s Concert
February 21, 2002 – CDNow’s All Star has details of Madonna’s secretive appearance at the concert for her Maverick Label Records artist Michelle Branch in New York’s Irving Plaza on Wednesday. Madonna watched from the balcony dressed in a white top, blue jeans, and a long, tan leather coat before heading backstage just before Branch finished up. Michelle also talked about the appearance on TRL Thursday (we’ll post news on that soon).
Madonna Considering Stage Role
February 14, 2002 – The New York Daily News reports Madonna is considering a return to the stage as she is considering a couple of plays on London’s West End. Longtime spokeswoman Liz Rosenberg said her client may appear on stage late spring or early summer when pal Gwyneth Paltrow is also plotting a similar move to live acting.
Madonna’s Ray Of Light Goofed On By Mad Donna
February 12, 2002 – According to the Sun, Mad Donna’s ‘Wheels on the Bus’ will be released February 25 and will be a spoof of Madonna’s Ray of Light. There’s a cartoon version on the web I assume is the same video, and you can check it out at Bartsoft.com.
Madonna To Do New Bond Theme Song
February 7, 2002 – Contributed Anonymously: Madonna fan site called Inside Madonna reports, “According to a talk we just had with Liz Rosenburg’s office, Madonna is indeed making a new theme song for the new James Bond movie. At this time, no other details on this could be given. No single release discussed yet. Though according to Upcoming Movies, the movie ( which hasn’t been officially titled yet. Though some rumors suggest that the title for the new film will be “Beyond The Ice”) has a slated November 22, 2002 release date. That’s the Friday after Thanksgiving as well as being the 20th James Bond film and franchise’s 40th anniversary. The movie will once again star Pierce Brosnan. Production started on January 2nd, 2002 in Maui, Hawaii (where the opening sequence was filmed over the course of about a week). Other locations will be Hong Kong, Spain, Iceland, London, and the Pinewood Studios.”
Madonna & Guy Have Nightmare Dinner In London
February 7, 2002 – The New York Post reports Madonna & Guy Ritchie went to dine at one of Guy’s favorite restaurants, London’s Rules, and had to change tables three times before they found a suitable one. Then when ordering, nothing Madonna wanted on the menu was available. Finally, the restaurant somehow screwed up billing Guy’s charge card. The couple left after shelling out a measly $20 tip on the $450 bill after the experience.
