Mandy Moore posted the following message to fans on her blog at Myspace on Saturday (June 16):
Two more days…
It’s Saturday night and I just got back from the 2nd of three long Press
Junket days for “License To Wed.” Today consisted of a whopping 68 (yes,
68!) one-on-one interviews that last 5 minutes each. Most are the same
general questions and even by the middle of the day, you are finding every
nook and cranny to make each one different and respond as if you have never
heard the question before. Close to impossible… But a lot of the people
are regulars at junkets and it was nice to see them on this cycle.
So, the record is coming out on Tuesday… It’s still somewhat of a
hazy concept to me. I have never worked this hard to promote something
and as I’ve mentioned to you guys in the past, its been amazingly educational.
However, the last week or so has been a new phase of promotion in that
I am finally getting to perform the record rather than just talk about
it.
I have so many people in Chicago to thank for helping me break the ice
last week at my first show. The audience at Park West was so awesome and
responsive. I had no idea what to expect and who would show up. I guess
the show sold out which blew me away, to say the least. I played just about
the whole record along with a couple covers the band and I worked out.
It went by so quickly and all I could think about is wanting to get back
out there. This show was also filmed by MSN and is going to air THIS TUESDAY
on msn.com. Check it out and let me know what you think. I definitely got
the itch to play out and am glad more shows are coming soon. Next week
is New York City at Joe’s Pub – my favorite place to see music over the
last couple of years. I can’t believe I’m actually going to be on the other
side this time. The week after is The Roxy in L.A. – another place I can’t
believe I am playing.
We are in the midst of tweaking the routing for the Summer Tour. Me?…touring?
Yep! I will let you all know this coming week more info on it but you can
bet it will be coming to your neck of the woods or very closeby. We’re
gonna take it simple on the first go around and really do our best to have
some intimate shows where I can get my chops down and hopefully really
connect with the early audiences.
I have been shooting a Special for the Oxygen Network which is going
to air in August as a 4-episode documentary-like show. It will end in a
televised concert shot in NYC this coming week on Friday night. The people
shooting it have really been incredible and I hope are capturing some interesting
stuff to shed light on this record and some of the stuff that goes on to
promote it etc. I’ll fill you in as soon as I get more of the scoop on
that.
You guys have been so amazing the last few months, I can’t even tell
you. Getting your feedback and sharing your enthusiasm for this record
means more to me than ANYTHING. This is such a vulnerable step for me and
now that it is really coming to fruition this Tuesday when people can really
sink their teeth into this body of work, I’m freaking out a bit. All in
a good way but the excitement is like nothing I have felt about anything
I’ve done before. I think because I’m so positive that it is the exact
record I set out to make and there’s kind of no turning back or having
to make excuses for anything.
I will write again in the next couple of days. I’ll be in NYC this whole
week doing TV’s, press, shows and whatever else gets thrown my way. I’m
toasting to YOU for all your support…
