Mariah Carey Cover A ‘Huge Compliment’ To Def Leppard

The Montreal Gazette caught up with Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen who defended the band’s move to allow to cover their hit ‘Bringin’ on the Heartbreak’. “You get e-mails from fans, and they go, ‘It’s disgusting, it’s terrible.’ I said, ‘No – you’ve got to realize that she’s on our side,” he explained. “Someone’s actually out there promoting one of our songs. You should give her all the help she can get.’ Ultimately, it’s just a great honor for us (if) anyone does that – and does a real genuine version, not recording the song and making fun of the band, like the Michael Jackson thing by Alien Ant Farm (‘Smooth Criminal’). With Mariah it was a genuine version of our song. I actually think that’s a huge compliment.”

Mariah is great, I just saw her last night at Red Rocks and she is awesome, and when she sang this song she hit every note. The girl can still sing and I think her cover on “Bringin’ On the Heartbreak” is really good, she made it her own.

I’m glad they realized that and suppressed the people who wanted to hate on her without even giving her version a chance.

are you stalking me now?? lol’, ‘i guess I ruffled your feathers more than I thought I did earlier since now you feel the need to personally insult me.. for that you should never call anyone else immature.

and don’t pay any attention to Tena when she comes in here to insult Mariah.. she’s my stalker. everywhere I go she chooses me out of all the Mariah fans to start arguments with. not to worry… she’s like a gnat.. she’ll go away if ignored

You know the really weird s**t. Mariah pulls this song off live, the beginning is kind of hum-drum,,,it’s like open ya big ass mouth and sing heffer, and then at the bridge and the end..she wails on this…it’s like she’s a rock-chick waiting to explode. I did not like the song at 1st, but it’s hot now. She looks very sexy in the video.

Mariah is definitely golden…I care less what haters have to say about her, she has been through the storm from the high and low notes of life. She’s one of the most innovate and inspirational artists that’s still standing to live for the music, live for the joy by promoting only the music, and giving fans her gratitude, unlike many artists that just sweep past them. And she’s spiritual within herself and her people, which by far for any artists, is truly the most powerful gift than her voice and nature combined.

I love her cover of “Bringin’ on The Heartbreak”,its the best song on Charmbracelet.I’m glad they like it,they seem like really nice people to compliment someone out of their genre of music.

  6. Dominicano1197 says:

And Mariah fans,if WaneJessicasosogay comes in here and starts bashing Mariah as usual…ignore her stupid ass.

Another dumb comment from crybaby rain. Maybe people didn’t like the sound of her version. Please, not everything is hate. It’s called a matter of taste and preference

  8. Dominicano1197 says:

She’s just expressing her opinion!’, ‘I’m a huge fan of Mariah’s,too(you can tell by my fake email). But not everyone has 2 like Mariah. If she doesn’t think Mariah has emotion when she sings, that’s just her opinion. It’s not like she’s calling her a slut or anything.

  9. HoneyRain says:

you’re exactly right’, ‘but she acts as if she doesn’t want ME to have an opinion either.. she always chooses to argue with me about the way I feel about Mariah.. therefore.. I don’t like her too much

I knew that you were going to call me a stalker, at least you have a sense of humor. The reason you were chosen, was simply because you were there, you were the only one responding. I don’t think anyone else was around.

That is what the reviewer from the other article was talking about-comments fans make like “she hit every note” or “she hit a lot of high notes that day” or some other technical aspect ot the singing she does. Not everyone cares how many high notes someone sings or how many trills or melisimas they do. If the fans enjoy that, so be it. But, just because somoene else doesn’t want to pay to hear that, doesn’t make them jealous or tone deaf.
