The New York Daily News reports that while Mariah Carey was doing a last-minute sound check at Miami’s National Hotel for her Video Music Awards performance, the songbird said, “Whoever is smoking a cigarette, I love you, but please put it out.” Then, after a moment, she added: “I’m not being a diva! Nobody write any gossip story about me being a diva!”
