Mariah Carey Previews KL Show
Faridul Anwar Farinordin of Malaysia’s New Straits Times caught up with Mariah Carey at the MTV Asia Awards to ask her about her first concert in Malaysia at Stadium Merdeka in Kuala Lumpur. Carey said her upcoming show will be a mix of “interesting theatrical elements.” She added, “It’s gonna be a surprise and a great show. This time, Bianca (her brunette alter ego who was featured in her music videos and past concerts) won’t be there. I thank all my fans for their continuous support and look forward to seeing them soon.” As for the controversy the show prompted from local Muslim groups, Carey said, “As an artist, I understand the cultural sensitivities of a country. I didn’t mean to offend anybody. And I thank my Malaysian fans who continue to give me full support.”
