Mariah Carey’s $25 Million Deal With Coca Cola

Most people are aware of the new Japanese commercial that features Mariah Carey’s vocals, but only a few know that it’s only one aspect of her new, multimillion dollar deal with Coca Cola Japan.

In an effort to bolster slightly sagging sales, the beverage company offered Mariah a 25 million dollar contract in October, which she immediately accepted. Mariah is set to appear in a series of three Sokenbicha commericials, the first of which will be shot next month in Singapore. In addition to the commercial series, Mariah will also appear in print ads in Japanese magazines over the course of the next 2 years.

Sokenbicha, a tea-flavored beverage, has been wildly popular in Japan since it was first introduced in 2002, but sales have declined slightly.

As an added incentive, Mariah will receive a portion of all profits if sales of the product improve while her TV and magazines ads are in rotation.
