MTV News announced today that Mariah Carey has signed a publishing deal to release a book. When asked by MTV correspondent John Norris during Total Request Live on Thursday if the book would be a memoir, Mariah replied with, “I think it’s a little early for that. We’ll just have to wait and see. If there is one, you’ll be the first to know.” Despite Carey’s answer, it is rumored that the book will indeed be a detailed account of her life and will include stories of childhood struggles and adult obstacles, as well as poetry. Publishing sources also note that music journalist David Ritz is attached to the project. Ritz previously assisted Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Smokey Robinson and B.B. King with their autobiographies.
