Mariah To The Rescue After Cruel E-Mail Shatters Blind Fan

The Enquirer spoke with 10-year-old Michelle Katz and her grandmother Dee Hofland after they sent a request for the singer, who had cancelled her concert in Minnesota, to contact her blind granddaughter. A phoney e-mailed response had devastated the family, who told friends and eventually made it to the local news. Michelle said of the subsequent phone call she received from Mariah, to insist she’d never send that type of message: “Mariah was very nice. She said she was sorry she couldn’t do the concert, but she was looking forward to meeting me.” Mariah’s rep Cindi Berger added, “Mariah feels terrible about what’s happened. She looks forward to meeting Michelle and her family when her Charmbracelet tour is rescheduled.”
