Adam Levine and James Valentine of Maroon 5 stopped by ‘MuchOnDemand’ on June 14th to talk with VJ Leah Miller about their new album ‘It Won’t Be Soon Before Long’, writing lyrics as therapy, and quenching thirst.
“I think this time we were able to relax and enjoy,” Adam said about their long awaited second album. “The first time we had no career, so we had to make a career for ourselves. To me, that’s what pressure actually it. The second time around was far more luxurious and we had time and it was so much fun. It was a blast.”
Asked if Adam was closer to his quest as a lyricist to understand everyone, he confessed, “Actually I’m way further away from that. No, it’s just that I’m always looking into relationships that I’m in or I’m observing or whatever the case may be. I’m just trying to get a better understand for people in general. People are confusing, but that’s why I like to write lyrics.”
When a fan asked if lyrics were based mostly on his or other people’s experiences, Adam responded, “All of the lyrics are very personal, so they all have to do with experiences that I’ve had in my life.”
