According to Yahoo-Deutschland Britney Spears has landed at number 5 in the German singles chart, this week’s highest debut for an international/non-German act. This will come as especially good news for Britney and her label since Germany is the world’s 2nd biggest market for Western pop music, behind the US. The only other international act in the top 5 was Seal, who rose one spot to #4 with his song Love’s Divine. Pink rose 3 spots to #8 after 2 weeks in the German charts. Britney has in the past enjoyed enormous popularity in Germany, where all 3 of her previous albums have gone German platinum (300,000 sold) but German music sales have declined more dramatically than in most countries as a result of net piracy and a weakened economy. This could be a good sign that Britney may get good sales for ‘In the Zone’ despite the general decline in German music sales.

lol!!! And Britney fans keep lying to save their lip syncing stripper! The UK is the world’s 2nd largest Western music market you dumbass, not Germany.
Bull crap you arrogant British liar..Germany has 22 million more people and is richer
^Nothing against Britons, this comment was strictly directed at Atomic liar!
I don’t think this person’s lying… Germany *is* more heavily populated, after all. We just hear about the UK more because their artists can sort of easily break into the US market — but German artists have a harder time.
Thanks Cicero, I am “that person” and Germany has 22 million more people than the UK
Wow. Coming from a country that started 2 world wars and got their asses kicked.
God I thought she debut at number one judging by the title. its not really that big of news. if seal made it to number four than my karaoke tape could make it to number one.
Actually I think Germany IS the second biggest world market. 1. USA 2. Germany 3. UK 4. Japan 5. France 6. Australia 7. Mexico 8. Argentina 9. Brazil 10. Spain
