Meiko is out with an electronic press kit (EPK), where the singer songwriter explained her name and talked having “really bad stage fright” which she had to overcome, writing a lot of her songs in her bathroom, the story behind her favorite song ‘Boys with Girlfriends’, and working with producer Greg Collins on her MySpace Records self-titled debut album, which is out on iTunes tomorrow.
“I’m a quarter Japanese. Japanese pronounce it ‘May-koh’, but I’m ‘Mee-koh’, and I spell it M-e-i-k-o,” she said. “It’s an American spelling of a Japanese name. I started playing guitar when I was 13 and I never really thought I would have or I could have a career in music. I have really bad stage fright. It took me a good 2 years of living here before I even had enough balls to go play my first open mic night.”
The video clip at MySpace has since been removed.
