It is clear that Mr. Jackson was unwell. If I head Lupus or any of the autoimmune disease’s, that, would have been a large target for bad things to happen. The man would have been in line for for any of the the inflammatory disease’s which are fellow carries. It has been shown that Women with Lupus have a huge risk of stroke due to the inflammatory nature nature of disease. It should now be said that he looked sick and that his so called failure to show up or change course or to go to the Hospital. He was sick and he struggled mightily against his infirmities.

    He will be missed.

Though I have not yet Diagnosed with Lupus I have been misdiagnosed for over7 yrs. My symptoms look more of Lupus symptoms. The Pictures of Michael Jackson at the Lupus fundraiser he looked ill, by some of what I say I would not at all be surprised if he was having a Lupus flare if not worse. Lupus is a system disease and stress effects a flare up it also attacks organs such as the heart, lungs, kidneys skin, joints Central Nervous System. Michael could have easily died of Lupus Complications or other disease that he could have had. I guess that info will come out after Autopsy we will see.

    RIP Michael

hi, I have been living with lupus also, and its difficult to say if MJ (RIP) was suffering from a flare in his last few days as it mimics so many symptoms. Also, we don’t actually know for sure what his diagnosis were? some say he had lung disease, fractures from dancing on stage, avoided sunlight etc..all point to a possible form of lupus, sle. I am hoping the autopsy is accurate and if this is the case that MJ has suffered from lupus as well as a heart attack, it will bring much needed publicity to the potential killing disease. It has completely ruined my life and I’m 24. Since finding out that MJ had lupus, I feel that I can relate to him on a completely different level, a sort of connection.

    RIP MJ

I think that the ‘shame’ in all this is the ‘media spin’. Vitiligo alone can have profound psychological affects on mere mortals and I do not know how MJ delt with it as a Star? Likewise, people do not believe MJ had SLE, Lupus, or any underlying chronic health problem. I do, because it so explains a lot of his past. The media spun it for good news, while the reality was staring at everyone in the face, pardon the pun and they chose to ignore it. MJ is one month older than me, I have Psoriasis and Rheumatoid Arthritis, retired ten years ago. I could not do what MJ was expected to do! No I am not a ‘Fan’ just a person who lives with chronic incurable health conditions.

my husband (who was 30 at the time he was diagnosed) had a heart attack which we later learned was a complication from lupus (which at the time he didn’t realize he had). His official diagnosis was myopericarditis. I don’t know if this is what MJ died from, but do know that the lupus /heart attack connection is very real.

I am a 30 year old female who was diagnosed with Lupus about 6 years ago. It took about 3 years to be properly diagnosed. I do remember my life before Lupus. I remember days without pain. I remember days where I had the energy to do what my mind wanted to do. I remember having a quick mind and sharp memory. Now I have why they refer to as Lupus Fog. Lupus affects every part of your life and every part of who you are. I wish that Michael would have opened up about this condition in order to raise awareness and understanding. I have found that very few people know about Lupus and those who do still don’t really understand it. Stress is a huge contributor to flares of Lupus. Once you are diagnosed, Lupus does not leave you. I must always take my medication. I am always in some pain and never who I used to be. Michael Jackson is now out of pain. God Bless him and his family.

had I known he had lupus, would have sent him a copy of “lupus underground” …it saved my life…

  8. ITHW54 says:

I am a Lupus patient, I understand everything Michael Jackson has gone through physically. Right now I can’t work because I am out on short term disability. It is a crazy disease. Hopefully, with his death more research will be done and more attention will be paid to it. Before I was diagnosed I had pigment change on my fingers, it eventually returned to the normal color. My daughter is now having pigment change on her toes.

  9. Ingrid says:

I’m 36 female and I live with lupus too. So if MJ have had lupus it will explain a lot. RIP MJ

as a lupus survivor of fifteen years life is not easy nor is it difficult like many life obstacles slow you down other life celebrations keep you going you keep life and lupus in perspective

  11. Yolanda Sosa says:

I have had Lupus for 9 years now and been told by Kaiser that is not lupus but fibromyalgia. A doctor in Mexico diagnose me with lupus and started treating me for it an now I’m doing better. I also think that Michael had lupus but was not been treated for it.

  12. Brenda says:

I was diagnosed with lupus, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis about 5 years ago. My doctor gave me some reading information and it included information about Michael Jackson having lupus. Why aren’t we spreading the word about this life crippling disease. Yes, Michael did have a lot of changes made to his physical appearance but what celebrity hasn’t. He also was probably very much ashamed of how discord lupus makes you look. When I first heard of his death, I thought about the lupus first. I understand why he took so many meds. I have to take medication to get me going in the morning, then something to keep me going through the day, and then something to make me sleep. With lupus, lots of sleep meds do not work after a while. Please CNN, let the world know about this disease. Michael is gone now, leave him alone.

  13. Cynthia says:

My sister has Lupus. I have supported and watched her suffer for the past twenty years. Thank God she has excellent doctors and a very supportive husband. Lupus totally attacks your body and changes your life. I wish the media would focus on the overwhelming difficulties people with Lupus encounter. Life with Lupus is extremely difficult and is HELL. No one understands the pain unless they have walked in the shoes of a Lupus patient. My sister is in constant pain.

When the disease attacked her spinal and brain she was also bedridden and legally blind. I watch her take 25-30 (or more) pills a day. Was it drug abuse? NO!!! It was survival, misdirected and misunderstood.

She had surgery which removed her lumbar spine. Can you believe that!! I was against it, but it was a blessing from God. It removed massive infections from her body. Result, total restoration of all her abilities and reduction of the pain. Her sight was restored, independent regained, and life given back to her. We call her a miracle from God

Micheal must have been in overwhelming pain. But the media wants to focus on drug abuse and not rightly on ALL the different overwhelming factors this wonderful person faced everyday. Yet he gave so much to the world. His God given talent, which he used to reach out to mankind across the world like no other person on earth. He was so misunderstood. Micheal, RIP. The most caring and beautiful people, mankind seems to want to destroy. Evil, they let prevail. It’s strange. Again please CNN focus on the Lupus.

This would be an excellent opportunity to enlighten the world on the impact of Lupus on countless millions of people who live with this terrible disease everyday. But of course, it will not sell or get the network rating like focusing on drug abuse.

  14. Valerie says:

Thank you for sharing stories of Lupus unfortunately even after it has been shared that Michael Jackson suffered from Lupus the media wants to portray him as a drug addict. Maybe after all is said and done there will be good that comes out of this tragedy. May MJ rest in painless peace.

  15. Joanne Kontic says:

    hello everyone.
I was diagnosed with lupus sle in 2005. A little after since I have been a Michael Jackson fan for a long time 1980’s thriller and all I have been feeling that he has had lupus. The only one that can tell if a person has it is if the person is going through it emotionally or physically. It is very challenging to your mind and body. If you get help you can survive. I felt Michael Jackson was feeling hurt and alone and people were after him and we wanted to be the best because of his poor child hood. if you have lupus you do want to be perfect because sometimes you have the urge that nobody is listening to you. I have that feeling sometime. But it can be controlled.
It was hard to control with millions of fans good or bad following him day by day.
We all need comfort by riches and or music to get away from the chaotic world.
    We will miss him…
    forever!

My heart goes out to everyone who know someone or have Lupus. I myself never knew what this disease was until a month ago. I recently tested positive for ANA and doing more test to see if I have Lupus. My second test came out negative. Which I pray to god it stay that way. Stress do play a big role in this disease. I was hospitalized for four days, with a weak heart, lost 8 lbs in a little over a month. Before I retest the second time, I didn’t even look like myself. I looked ill and was weak. I couldn’t move my legs for 20 min in the hospital and had constant chest pain and I’m 28 yrs old. I pray god its not miss diagnosed. Even so, I can only imagine what MJ was going through. And its really sad to hear the media attack him even after he’s gone.

  18. Lisa says:

I more I learn about Michael Jackson’s life including his various serious medical issues the more I feel his pain. And everyone on this site talking about such a horrible disease. MJ was so misunderstood on so many levels, that I am sure the stress of the trial and being the money maker contributed to the worst levels that lupus can reach. It explains a lot about Michael’s behavior being in wheelchairs and needing to have pain pills just to function. From all the research I have done, it seems to me that if MJ become a drug addict it was started because of the pain he endured after being burned during the 80s and/or the chronic pain brought on by lupus. Thank you for sharing your stories, it also helped understand it much better. RIP Michael Jackson, King of Pop, King of Hearts.

I have had lupus for the past 14 years. I can attest to the fact of the constant pain, fatigue, weakness, and the over all feeling of helplessness. Lupus has caused 2 heart attacks, degenerative bone disease (I have had 2 hip replacements and a spinal fusion). I have severe skin disorders, I have copd, reynaulds disease, cellulitis, and am in constant pain. Like the writer above I have to take meds to begin my day, meds during the day, and meds at night. (16 pills a day). And still in constant pain.

I AM 42 I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH SLE, FIBROMYALGIA AND RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS IN 1997 IT TOOK ALMOST 2 YEARS OF BEING SICK BEFORE THEY FOUND WHAT WAS WRONG WITH ME AND YES IT IS VERY PAINFUL AND I DO HAVE A HARD TIME SLEEPING BUT I AM ALWAYS TIRED, PEOPLE DON’T UNDERSTAND THE ILLNESS AND SAY WELL YOU LOOK FINE THEY THINK YOU ARE JUST TRYING TO GET ATTENTION. SO I TOO UNDERSTAND MICHAEL JACKSON WANTING SOMETHING TO HELP HIM SLEEP AND ALL OF THE PAIN PILLS HIS DR JUST WENT OVERBOARD WITH THE SLEEP MEDS. YOU DON’T GIVE THAT MEDICINE UNLESS YOU ARE HAVING SURGERY…RIP MICHAEL
