Michael Jackson Loses $5.3 Million Jury Verdict

Attorney Skip Miller tells Reuters the jury in the city of Santa Maria awarded Marcel Avram $5.3 million, nearly all of the $5.9 million in lost profits he had been seeking from Michael Jackson after six-and-a-half days of deliberations. Miller said despite the verdict in favor of his client, he would appeal certain procedural rulings by the judge — such as not allowing the jury to consider debts Jackson allegedly owed to a Korean company that Avram had assumed — in the hope of getting even more money from Jackson.
