Michael Musto On ‘The Kiss’
Michael Musto of the Village Voice is sarcastically weighing in on the kisses Madonna shared with Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. He writes, “Let me drop the sarcasm for a second and join the chorus of titillated tongue waggers who said that Madonna’s kisses with Britney and Christina were the sexiest, most shocking, most provocative things to turn up on MTV in decades. Oh my God, it was simply the most eye-opening, alarming, thrilling, fantastic happening in all of TV history! In fact, the smooches were so spontaneous, heartfelt, and most of all, artful, I think they changed minds, lifted hearts, dropped jaws, and with shattering openness and honesty, moved society forward a few thousand years. Kidding—I fell asleep halfway through.”

Spoken like a true gay man.
Need I remind you that the kiss was not the important aspect anyway. The debate over the legality of Gay marriage was just starting to go “mainstream”, when Madonna’s performance pretending to Marry Brit\Xtina forced the issue into millions of people’s homes. It made the straight teens feel curious and the gay teenagers a little more accepted.
Not everyone’s queerness is celebrated and remunerated with money, Michael Musto. Any help is great.
