Michelle Branch Comments On Tsunami Disaster

Michelle Branch of The Wreckers posted a message to fans on the band’s message board on Sunday (January 2). “I want to wish all of you a very Happy New Year,” Branch wrote. “I am so looking forward to 2005. This past year was filled with a lot of good but also a lot of disappointments. I think the end of the year was the most distressful. Every time I turn on the T.V. all I see is tsunami footage. It makes you feel guilty and fortunate to be alive all at the same time. I’ve been trying to think of something I can do to help but nothing seems like quite enough. I think at this point if you can, giving money to the Red Cross seems like the easiest thing to do. Let everyone who knows exactly what is needed for the relief effort use money to buy the things that will really help and make a difference. I am going to brainstorm and let you all know tomorrow if I can think of anything else I think we can do to help. There is an old saying that whatever you are doing during the New Year is a peek at what your year will be like. I hope it’s not more tragedies, but more of the world coming together as one to try and make a small difference.”
