Miffed Kelly Clarkson Defends Mariah, Sneers At Critics

How would ‘American Idol’ champ react if critics compare her to fellow warbler , whose voice, it has been said, covers an impressive spectrum but lacks soul? “The people who said that must be tone-deaf,” she snapped to Lionel Seah of The Straits Times. “Mariah is an excellent writer and singer. I believe she doesn’t receive the credit she deserves.” Then comes the nub. “Not all critics will like me for who I am. They won’t tell it to my face but they’ll write about it. Anyway, critics don’t buy my album, fans do,” she rattles off. The writer portrays Clarkson as a diva with an attitude, which Clarkson’s handlers blamed on her being exhausted.

I respect both Kelly Clarkson and Mariah Carey so much. Mariah Carey has cut the emotional barrier very beautiful in her ability to shine the color of her voice and her music and not the color of her skin. She’s a wonderful artists and well-spirited, positive human being. I know some people are gonna bring up that she worked with rappers, but that has nothing to do with it, she still had a fun, passionate, and personal barrier with that. I believe Mariah Carey doesn’t get that much credit for her music and songwriting by the critics. The fans will always know. Kelly Clarkson is great…i know that she will do great things..she has a great voice…GO KELLY AND MARIAH

^^Exactly, real singers don’t get the respect they deserve, people like Kelly and Mariah are the real talented singers in the world, and they will be the ones who pass the test of time.

the ignorant media is always labeling women divas or b!tches if they: 1. have a powerful voice 2. speak out about their opinions 3. don’t take crap from anyone (ala Aguilera).. she’s not a b!tch either.. just because she doesn’t fakely smile in everyone’s face and kiss people’s ass doesn’t make her a diva anyway.. it’s so stupid that they said this about Kelly.. she’s so sweet and cool for defending Mariah.

Kelly has more soul than Mariah in her right foot, I don’t see any comparison between the two. Kelly has a soulful voice that sounds straight out the church. Mariah sounds like a white girl singing amazing grace on a infomercial, but then again why would she want to be soulful…If I remember correctly Mariah wasn’t a “black artist” and never wanted her songs to be associated with “black music”. Things have sure made a turn for Mariah because she’s now doing r&b and working with any hot hip-hop producer praying she’ll have another hit this century. Don’t count on it crazy Carey.

  5. HoneyRain says:

^^are you black? lol.. LMAO at white girls who think they know about black culture and music.. Mariah has always done pop AND r&b songs since the beginning.. and she’s been singing with rappers since the mid ’90s.. so that ain’t nothing new.. it’s one thing to dislike someone.. but next time get your facts straight

  6. mikemc says:

Your so ignorant and stupid, Mariah never said she didn’t want to be associated in “black music”, Mariah has been singing R&B music since the very beginning of her career, then they marketed her as a pop act after that. And you are truly an idiot to say that Mariah doesn’t have soul, she won the damn Soul Train Lifetime Achievement award this year, she has countless R&B awards. And you obviously haven’t seen Mariah live lately because she KILLED it live, she sang her a$$ off!

I am not a “Mariah fan” but Mariah gets too much flak considering she has a great voice. A lot of people try to talk about Xtina’s voice when Mariah’s voice is better.

  8. mikemc says:

Exactly, Mariah is a talented singer who is the best out there. Its funny to me, because the haters swear that everyone hates Mariah, when its like the same 4 people that talk sh** about her, tena, madfan, weebongo, wanesosodefJessica are pretty much the only ones who talk sh** about Mariah.

She didn’t come off like a diva at all; she was just defending her colleague. Critics are nothing but pretentious attention-seekers.
