More Cheetah Criticism From PETA

The New York Post reports PETA has added itself to organizations upset over Britney’s planned use of cheetahs in her VMA performance on Thursday.

PETA’s Dan Mathews released a letter asking Britney to stop her plans saying, “We hope you’ll open your heart to the plight of captive wild’ animals caged and forced to tolerate bright lights, crowds, and frightening levels of noise.”

Matthews added that Janet Jackson had planned a similar idea a few years ago on a concert tour but “After she learned how frightening and stressful this would be for the cat, she agreed that it was wrong and did not go through with it.”

Spears’ rep refused comment on the PETA charge saying, “We’re not allowed to disclose any information about her [MTV] appearance.”
