MTV News caught up with Benji Madden at Mood to figure out why he and his brother, Good Charlotte bandmate Joel Madden, had a problem with ‘American Idol’ season one champ Kelly Clarkson. “Here’s the thing,” he said. “I heard that she said some petty things about someone I care deeply about [Joel's girlfriend Hilary Duff], so I just made some petty remarks ’cause I’m a petty guy. Straight up, I’m from Waldorf, Maryland, you guys. Let’s not forget that. You take shots, I take shots. I love you, Kelly – it’s all good.” A spokesperson for RCA, her record label, who requested anonymity told MTV News, “It’s insane. Kelly likes Hilary, and the [EW quote where Clarkson joked she'd like to fight fellow Texans Duff and Beyonce] was said in jest.
