Natasha Bedingfield On Matching British Success In America

Natasha Bedingfield tells the Knoxville News Sentinel that she enjoys the challenge of matching the success she’s enjoyed in her native England in America. “When I came here it was like going right back to square one,” 26-year-old Bedingfield explained. “In England I was playing huge events. Then I came here and had to play for very small crowds and at radio stations and for contest winners who were eating pizza while you were singing to them. They would walk up to you and tell you, ‘I know you’re going to make it one day!’ You feel like you’ve already made it. You feel like saying, ‘Don’t you know who I am?’ But they don’t. You’re introducing yourself to a whole new group of people. … That’s the thing that everyone does when they come to America. It’s the American dream. You start from the bottom and work your way up. I’m happy to be part of that.” Natasha has enjoyed #1 hits in the U.S. with the title tracks off her debut ‘Unwritten’ and her follow-up, ‘Pocketful of Sunshine’. Read more.
