Nick Lachey Addresses Marriage Trouble Gossip

February 19, 2004 – Access Hollywood’s Tony Potts caught up with 98 Degrees star Nick Lachey on the set of ‘I’m With Her,’ where he’s filming a guest spot, to get his response on a report in Us Weekly that claimed his marriage to Jessica Simpson is falling apart due to her success. “Look they are in the business of selling magazines and I’m in the business of being married,” Lachey said. “That’s what I put as my priority. You can’t read too much into what people say. Even with interviews you do, magazines tend to twist it in a way that makes their story more enticing. They put a headline out there that says maybe one small piece of the story, but it’s how they sell magazines. I think that as a celebrity you can’t start to let that stuff affect your life and dictate the way you live your life. You just have to let it roll right off, man.”

It really doesn’t; at least not in my household.”

OMG what a BUNCH of crap. They stopped taping Newlyweds FEB 14th, and Jessica was making appearances March 1st, Come one people lets do that math, THAT IS TWO WEEKS and JESSICA stated they went away for ONE WEEK. So since KEN can’t count I don’t trust him ONE IOATA.

That’s funny since her staff is her family. In my opinion, the dad is creepy. I first tuned into this show about halfway through the episode where Nick/Jessica filmed the “Sweetest Sin” video. So there’s this weird blond manager guy talking about how they’re celebrating that Jessica could now “do it till she’s blue in the face”. At the time I thought it was kinda pervy for her manager to say something like that. Now that I realize it was her FATHER saying that….it explains a LOT. I’m willing to cut Jessica some slack for growing up in that home. That said, sure, she’s pretty and talented, and probably a decent person overall. But she seems spoiled and immature. Her parents buying her a new Mercedes so she can get rid of the “old” one doesn’t help. Neither does her husband having that closet built so she has storage room for more clothes that she will wear once. Poor Nick really got the shaft in the Christmas episode. This show is absurd and leaves me vaguely irritated at the state of the world, yet for some reason I always watch the damn thing. Oh well. As long as people realize that it isn’t real life, and that a lot of women in their mid-20s (myself included at age 25) actually have educations and 9-5 jobs, and can cook, clean, budget and not rely on Mom and Dad for everything. Her Dad is also not a good manager since he booked her into a gig on her first wedding anniversary, and he was not able to get Jessica and Nick’s duet recording released. Since fans saw them sing it on the show as a duet, they expected it to be able to purchase it as a duet (Take My Breath Away). Jessica and Nick’s singing voices blend very well, and their combined talents would sell very well. Individually, his or her singing talent cannot stand on its own.
