Although claiming “I’m her best friend and I support her no matter
what” last night on ‘Late Night with Conan O’Brien’, Nicole Richie said
she hadn’t spoke with Paris Hilton since she was jailed, released, and
returned to jail, and had no plans to. “I don’t know the details,” she
said. “I don’t know anything.” O’Brien never quizzed the ‘Simple Life’ star
about the likelihood she’ll be spending time behind bars herself after
receiving a DUI for driving the wrong way on the freeway. Read on for the

Conan: I’m very well. I’ll just bring up this right away. We’re not
going dwell on this for the whole segment, obviously. But this is got to
be, sort of, a strange day for you. It’s crazy this — what’s happened
the last couple of days.
Nicole: What happened?
[ Light laughter ]
Conan: Well, anyway, I had my hair done.
[ Laughter ] Cut low on the side and higher up here.
Nicole: Gorgeous.
[ Laughter ]
Conan: The entire country – the news media’s obsessed with what’s happening
with Paris right now. And today, especially, it seems like it’s a whole
new level. First of all, are you surprised by the intensity of the media
coverage?
Nicole: It’s really crazy, but, you know, I’m her best friend and I
support her no matter what.
Conan: Yeah. Now, as her best friend, have you talked to her recently?
Nicole: I haven’t. You know, I’ve been promoting the show like crazy
for the past few days here. So I haven’t even, like, seen a tv or anything.
Conan: Is it possible that she went to jail just to avoid promoting
the show?
[ Laughter ] “Talk to conan o’brien? No, no, no, no! We’re not doing
that.” When do you think you will be talking to her?
Nicole: Well, obviously, not any time soon, right?
[ Laughter ]
Conan: Right. I don’t know.
Nicole: No, I didn’t mean it – I’m not being mean, I’m just saying.
Conan: You talk through glass, you know. That whole thing. Can’t you
visit? Are you allowed to visit?
Nicole: I don’t know the details. I don’t know anything.
Conan: You don’t know the details. Okay. All right.
