Nicole Roberts Defends Bandmate Cheryl Tweedy’s Punch

The Evening Standard reports Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Tweedy was punched twice in the face by Surrey nightclub toilet attendant Sophie Amogbokpa before she retaliated, her bandmate Nicola Roberts told the court. “She (Tweedy) just retaliated in self defense as anybody would if they had been punched in the face,” Roberts said. But under cross-examination, the singer denied having made up the story about the two punches to help her friend and insisted she would never lie for anybody.
