The only three ‘American Idol’ contestants left to stop the 4-year trend of Southern states winning the competition this season were Colorado’s Ace Young and California’s Katharine McPhee and Lisa Tucker — who were all in the bottom three last night. With Lisa Tucker getting the boot, the ‘Confederate Idol’ trend seems to only be strengthening. Reality TV Magazine writes: “With seven Southerners in the Top Ten, logic would seem to dictate that the vote would be split in the South and that it would be likely that at least one Southern contestant would wind up in the bottom three. The results are especially surprising when considering the fact that three of the American Idol finalist are from North Carolina. How could all three contestants from a relatively small state like North Carolina avoid the bottom three while two contestants from a large state like California wind up in the bottom three? Are people from North Carolina exceptionally gifted in phone dialing skills?”
