Jim Harrington of the Alameda Times-Star reviewed Avril Lavigne’s concert at the HP Pavilion in San Jose on Wednesday (April 30). He writes, “The multiplatinum singer, still just 18, has been marketed as a fierce individual who runs in opposition to such carefully polished pop stars as Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. But, musically speaking, she’s not quite as ‘individual’ as her marketing team would have us think. In fact, she sounds so much like fellow Canadian Alanis Morissette in concert, milking the angry-young-woman power ballad for all its worth, that it leads one to wonder how many copies of ‘Jagged Little Pill’ Lavigne wore out growing up in Napanee, Ontario.”
