J.D. Considine of The Globe and Mail reviewed Avril Lavigne’s sophomore album ‘Under My Skin’, giving it 3 stars. Considine writes, “‘Under My Skin’ overflows with the sound of fury, ringing its semi-shouted choruses with cranked guitars and breakneck drumming. That’s not to say the album is without its sensitive side; the quiet, melancholy ‘Slipped Away’ is dedicated to Lavigne’s late grandfather, while the brooding ‘How Does It Feel’ underscores its wounded vulnerability with violins and cellos. Mostly, though, the album is about impact and volume, with arrangements intended to evoke the in-concert crunch of her touring band.”
