Sonia Mansfield of the San Franciso Examiner shared her thoughts on the finale of ‘American Idol’ and the upcoming tour featuring the 10 finalists. Mansfield said, “The constant complaint throughout ‘American Idol’ has been song choices. ‘American Idol’ is obviously marketed toward teens yet the song selection didn’t reflect that. The songs skewed older and weren’t exactly with it. In fact, the songs were so damn uncool that even I recognized them as uncool. I’m not denying that these kids can sing. But, even their nice singing voices didn’t make the songs of the ’60s medley in the finale entertaining. And the new songs written for ‘American Idol’ aren’t much better. In fact, I’m willing to go out on limb and say they downright suck.”
