Jay Leno joked during his Tonight Show monologue on Monday night, “And as you know, the [Academy Awards] did have the five-second delay. They made a big deal out of it. It wasn’t because Chris Rock was hosting. See, they thought maybe Jessica Simpson would be watching. They wanted to give her enough time to [figure out the jokes].”
