Britney Spears’ 3rd Single To Be ‘Lonely’

A recently released marketing plan for Britney Spears in 2002, stated that “Lonely” was to be third single followed by “Anticipating.” Spears isn’t scheduled for a new album until Fall 2003. There may be however, a remix album later in the year from which Britney is to release her fifth single.

Britney Spears recently completed the video for “Overprotected,” the European follow-up to “I’m a Slave For You.” The video can be streamed at Britney.com or BritneySpears.com. As to whether the video will be released in the US the answer is most likely NO as the next single is scheduled to be “Lonely.”

Conan O’Brien joked during his monologue earlier in the week, “Nick Carter released a statement after his arrest saying he was in the wrong place at the wrong time… kinda how you feel after a Backstreet Boys concert.”

Shakira recently called into a local radio station. When asked if she likes any of the girls reigning the pop charts she said that she loved Jessica.
“She has an amazing voice and spirit. She’s the sweetest thing. I saw her at Abercrombie and Fitch at the mall in L.A. She congratulated me on my album and I thought that was really sweet of her since I thought no one knew about me.”

Backstreet Boys Overtake *NSYNC As Most Popular Boyband
For the first time since February of 2000, the Backstreet Boys over overtaken *NSYNC in search queries on seach engine Findwhat.com, and by a wide margin at that. While pay-per-search king Overture.com’s results are not yet available, based on trends from November 2001, it isn’t difficult to project they also will reflect this change. For the month of December 2001, queries for *NSYNC, NSYNC, N Sync, ‘NSYNC, etc. totaled approximately 32,000 searches while Backstreet Boys, BSB, and Backstreetboys totaled around 49,000. Look for an even wider margin in January with controversy surrounding Nick Carter and his Florida arrest. Read on for a full list of search queries.

Justin Timberlake Says Britney Spears Isn’t A Possession
Elton John and *NSYNC’s Justin Timberlake were on MTV’s Total Request Live on Friday where the pair premiered ‘This Train Don’t Stop There Anymore’ and quized each other. When asked what Justin’s most prized possession was by Elton, an audience member screamed ‘Britney’ causing Justin to blast, “That’s not a possession, you don’t posses women, that’s wrong man!” His answer was “My voice.”

Mariah Carey ‘Far From A Stereotypical Pop Star’
Nick Moir of The Daily Telegraph profiled Mariah Carey and his thoughts on EMI possibly wanting to sever ties with the singer. Maid Loses Job After Britney Spears Bodyguard Flashes Her
The Boston Herald reports Danzel Neal, a former maid for the Ritz-Carlton in Boston says she lost her job because she complained when one of Britney Spears’ bodyguards flashed her. When the maid knocked before entering, the guard was naked and gave her a come-hither look, prompting Neal to call Spears to complain. Neal called a second time threatening to get a lawyer if Britney didn’t apologize and when Britney relayed the story to the hotel’s management, the maid was fired. The axed maid said, “All I wanted was for Britney to say, ‘I’m sorry it happened, it will never happen again.’”
