Enrique Iglesias A No Show In Winning AMA
With so many winners being no-shows at the American Music Awards Wednesday night you’d have to wonder if there was a blackballing effort going on by Grammy honcho Michael Greene. Enrique Iglesias won the award for Favorite Latin Music Artist but in accepting on his behalf, Darren Hayes and Jamie O’Neal explained, “Enrique is actually out of the country promoting his new album. But we’re very happy to accept this award on his behalf.”

Timberlake Makes Faux Pas In Acceptance Speech
*NSYNC won the American Music Award Wednesday for Favorite Pop/Rock Band, Duo or Group but Justin Timberlake made a bit of a faux pas that probably upset AMA chief Dick Clark when he told the crowd, “Oh, quit booing. U2’s going to get Grammys.” Justin, don’t plug the competing show, especially when the two heads are at war with each other!!. JC and Chris told the crowd, “Thank you, guys. Thank you, everybody. Record company, Johnny, our family, God, the fans, thank you guys very much for supporting us. Thank you. God bless you guys.” Justin then hammed it up by approaching the mic and not saying anything as girls in the audience screamed.

Splash had photos of a bikini clad Britney Spears and a shirtless Justin Timberlake from their vacation in Maui last weekend before they got to Los Angeles for Wednesday’s AMA’s. The pictures featured a pale *NSYNC star sporting his cross tattoo getting much needed ‘rays and a black bikini wearing Britney frolicking on the beach with friends.

His comment about a “major artist” was aimed at Britney Spears. The members of that board did not hesitate to bad mouth one of the most successful acts of this year… something Jessica could not be classified as.

Janet Jackson won the Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist award at Wednesday’s American Music Awards. Janet accepted the award live via satellite from Japan, where she told the audience in Los Angeles, “I’m very excited. Thank you so much. This has been such a wonderful year for me. And I’m very grateful for those who have helped to make it possible. Thank you, God. Thanks to Dick Clark. And the AMA’s and a special thanks to all the fans. Thank you so very much.” Janet also introduced Lenny Kravitz earlier in the show.

The Last Word On Last Call
Carson Daly was phoned by Access Hollywood’s Pat O’Brien Wednesday to explain the details behind his ‘Last Call’ show getting pulled. Turns out the decision was made 3 minutes before the scheduled airtime and Carson was told 60 seconds beforehand. Carson said, “I was with a large group of family and friends, business associates, that stuff, i knew something was going down. I think it was trying to be worked without — out without get to go me.”

Dick Clark Furious Over Michael Greene Remark
Access Hollywood talked with Dick Clark on Wednesday when they relayed the quote that Michael Green had told them earlier, “Michael is set to perform if we want him to.” When they played that remark, Clark asked, “What did he say?” Adding, “Wouldn’t you say that’s a tad arrogant?” No doubt the lawsuit will continue.
