Backstreet Boys Perform In New York Tuesday

AJ returned to New York to perform for the first time since his rehab stint. NY Daily News writer Isaac Guzman reports McLean told the crowd, “I want to thank you for allowing me some time to myself to get better. Today is 62 days sober. It’s like having a birthday every day. It’s wonderful.”

Mariah Cancels 20/20 Interview

Mariah Carey cancelled her 20/20 appearance where she was to be interviewed by Barbara Walters citing a need for more rest.

Walters responded to the news saying, “We were concerned to hear that Ms. Carey would be unable to do the interview at this time, and wish her well.”

More Cheetah Criticism From PETA

The New York Post reports PETA has added itself to organizations upset over Britney’s planned use of cheetahs in her VMA performance on Thursday.

PETA’s Dan Mathews released a letter asking Britney to stop her plans saying, “We hope you’ll open your heart to the plight of captive �wild’ animals caged and forced to tolerate bright lights, crowds, and frightening levels of noise.”

J.Lo Sample Stealing Sends Mariah Over The Edge

The New York Post reports Jennifer Lopez was the reason Mariah was sent over the edge. Mariah had sampled Firecracker by Japan’s Yellow Magic Orchestra when she recorded Loverboy six months ago but freaked after J. Lo released I’m Real with the same sample.

Rumor has it that if he bails, he�ll take his boys with him, proving that one bad apple can indeed ruin it for the entire bunch. While publicly flip-flopping about their availability (citing the all-encompassing �scheduling conflicts�), the woodsman was made uncomfortable by the ever-growing closeness with the captain. Britney’s Cheetah Act Draws Fire

Peoplenews reports the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) is criticizing Britney’s use of cheetah’s for her VMA performance Thursday. A spokeswoman said: “Our main concern would be the noise levels at the show, Cats have keen
senses of sound and react to different levels. These cats are probably well trained, but by using them Britney is giving out the message that it’s OK to use animals in this way and it isn’t.”

Beyonce Glad Mariah Doing Better

Beyonce sent her best wishes to Mariah and lamented about the work stars must do nowadays saying, “So many people want so much from you that it’s very hard to find time for yourself. It’s really important to surround yourself with people who love you and tell you when to slow down because it’s so easy to just want to work, work, work.” Beyonce adds, “I’m very happy that Mariah’s doing well.”

MTVE.com reports the titles of two new Madonna tracks off her upcoming album compilation album The Immaculate Collection Two have been revealed.

Howie: Backstreet Will Remain Boys

Despite some wishing the Backstreet Boys should change their name to Backstreet Men because of their ages, Howie Dorough revealed, “I feel we’re definitely growing. Boys for us will always be in the name of Backstreet Boys, because boys to us is a name for, just friends.”
