Reuters reports English soccer captain David Beckham may be a hero to millions of fans worldwide, but for Brazilian soccer legend Pele he is more a pop star than an athlete thanks to his marriage to former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham. “The problem with Beckham is that he married the most famous Spice Girl and now he is more of a pop star than a soccer player,” Pele told reporters on Thursday during a visit to Mexico City to promote the impotence drug Viagra. “Football today is also entertainment and people want players to be stars rather than footballers.”

I love David Beckham, but it’s true that now he’s more of a “pop star” than a soccer star, because of “Posh Spice.” He’s concentrating too much on being famous. He’s extremely famous in every country in the world, except the United States, so now he and Victoria are doing this “self-promotion tour” thing, trying to gain fame here in the states. He should just concentrate on his new career with Real Madrid.

Becks has changed a lot since he met Posh and I think real man Utd fans know that …we saw it happen right in front of us this becks is way different than the becks we saw coming from our youth team… that’s why.. I can only say…its better he’s gone. :D good luck to him and his image I mean his career at Real , well same thing real just want him for his pop star status anyway.
Pele is a legend…if Beckham could be as good or even better than Pele.
