Public No Longer Blindly Buys A New Mariah Carey Album

The Times of London spoke with a major label executive in the UK on reports EMI was considering buying out from her contract, as he revealed, “Unfortunately, the public is not as dim as the industry would like to think. They don’t just go out and blindly buy a new album, or whatever. It’s got to be good, because so much music is being made in people’s bedrooms now for thirty quid. The budget for Michael Jackson’s album could have cleared the national debt in Argentina. That’s where the whole spiral goes completely crazy…”
