Quincy Jones spoke with Sonia Murray of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution about artists he enjoys and when he mentioned troubled diva Whitney Houston, he said, “Whitney [Houston] I adore. She can sing her butt off — when she’s straight. I’m ready to kick her butt, too, because I love her. I really do. And I’ve already been through this with Lady Day and Dinah [Washington] and I don’t want to lose anybody else, you know, tragically.
“Whitney’s got everything: television, movies, great voice. God’s given her everything, and you have to honor that gift by developing it and cherishing it and taking care of it. And guarding it.”
