Relief Over Britney Spears’ New Sound

Contributed by RedBeast:

I’ve read someone’s post about his/her feelings about ‘Me Against the Music’ and I feel that since I have a different perspective, my word should come out. I don’t blame MadFan for disliking the song, everyone can’t like it of course. But I have to say, that I’m relieved that Britney came out with a different sound–different meaning compared to what’s out there right now. If you think about, how is the music going to change if the same old thing plays over and over, I’m talking about genre. I’m glad Britney didn’t come out as another ‘John Mayer’ or ‘Michelle Branch’ or 50 Cent or Justin Timberlake… hip hop and contemporary rock. It’s just getting old. You hear the same two genres over and over, and Britney comes out with a different sounding song. I mean I at least give her praises for not following in the steps of present acts right now. As for the song, I personally like it. I don’t love it, I don’t hate it. It has a great beat to me, and personally I like songs like this. I’m sick of hip hop and etc, I use to like it but now it’s like what pop was back then in 1999, being overplayed A LOT. That’s all I got to say, props to Britney and Madonna and moving on with her career more maturely without Max Martin.

Thank you for posting this! I think its good too. If everyone sounded the same, there would be no need for us all to know the artists names. Britney Spears has three albums that have done considerably well! BUT though she’s proud of those albums this one she took time to be creative. I don’t know about you but when someone says the pop-era to me I automatically think of Britney Spears. So maybe she’ll start a new era for us?

Laughing at whole post. DO YOU REALLY THINK THAT MATM IS POP ? If so, you’re DEAF. It’s R&B mixed with some poor kind of dance and some other crap. Why can’t you just admit that this song sucks for god sake?

I have to admit that Britney’s SOUND is changing. I don’t mean to be negative, but I think her LYRICS need to start changing. Changing sound is great, but that still doesn’t put anything original or artistic in the lyrics, which doesn’t have to be deep like Michelle Branch or Alicia Keys, but just something that’s more original than having it being about dancing in the club.

Although I don’t like Britney I give her props for trying different things with her music. I personally don’t like the song, but it doesn’t sound like anything else on the radio. It was the same the with ‘I’m A Slave 4 U’ a couple of years ago. That’s probably why musically I have more respect for her than the rest of the pop girls, because she tries to be different and isn’t afraid to put out something that she likes and that the radio isn’t use to.

I don’t like it however I’m not a pop music fan, but there are people who do like it. This is why Britney will be around for a while, she’s not afraid to do something that people might not like, unlike your beloved Christina Aguilera who put out ‘Dirrty’ knowing that it would be a commerical success. So I commend Britney for daring to be different.

new???? who said that people didn’t like artists coming out with a different sound?? people like to hear different music. that’s what we’re all waiting for. we’re all waiting for something new and fresh and ORIGINAL. Britney’s sound is new…..but it doesn’t mean It’s the kind of sound you want to hear. Kylie Minogue had a fresh new sound….and everybody reacted well to that. but Britney’s new music is pure tasteless crap. its badly baldy performed, the lyrics are terrible, and the vocals are embarrassing. it was hard to tell the difference b/w Britney’s and Madonnas voice. they both could not sing….therefore made the song sound terrible. the beat was cool….but it does not suit people with no voices. the potential of that song was limited because of their very limited vocal abilities. STOP USING BRITNEY’S “NEW SOUND” AS AN EXCUSE FOR THE TACKY SINGLE!

I have to admit I kinda like the song. My girl kept playing it over and over and over again, it grew on me. Whats funny is that she’s a huge Britney fan and she isn’t feeling it. I can’t stand Britney and I like it. I will even give Britney credit, if you really listen to her it seems like she grew up a little. She just really needs to start taking responsibility for her actions.

There is nothing different about Britney’s sound at all, the things that’s different about it is that she has a different approach to it with the vocals that’s all. She just went in the direction of more dance because that’s all she is is dance she is not a singer she’s more of a performer. So I don’t know what some of y’all are saying but its corny the lyrics don’t make any sense and Britney should of did it by herself because Madonna messed it up even more, Man I thought she was gonna help Britney out a great deal, but she just messed it up. Britney is not original at all she takes Madonnas routes, so by that her and Madonna belong together well the Madonna you see now, the Madonna back then we all loved and nobody can recreate what she did

I feel sorry for you if you like this song….I really do! I’m sorry that I feel this way, but seriously…. The song is pure crap, and the reason it sounds different from anything, and you don’t hear anything like it is cause no one in their right minds would try it.

For those who say “Just admit it, you HATE the song and stop using “new sound” as an excuse, you know you hate it!”–what the HELL!? seriously, that’s like 4th grade bully phrases. I’m 21 and I like the song, so shut the hell up man. I’m not saying Britney is the “changer” of everything and therefore she’s important, I’m just saying I like how she didn’t follow the paths of others; r&b, hip hop, contemporary. if you think about there are thousands of artists in each category. but MATM doesn’t like anything. and people who are saying it’s hip hop, it’s NOT. I’m listening to it right now, and it’s not. I’ve worked at a music conductor school before and I know music.

Hey .. I liked that single. Dirrty was a great song. so what…you’re not suppose to release a good song because everybody will like it???? I thought Dirrty matched Christina’s style perfectly. and if it was a commercial success then why is that everybody is dogging Christina for it???? the safe route would be going “Alicia Keys” style or go straight up rock…… all those 100s of rock artists that came out this year alone. rock is the big thing know. if you wasn’t commercial success….just look at Britney. look at all those publicity stunts she pulled to promote her new cd…and don’t forget those 100s of nude photos she did within 2 months…. not only that….she’s playing up that Madonna kiss by collaborating with her on the single…. I think its obvious of who’s taking the safe route. and all those tabloid photos are her back up to ensure that her single is a success. Christina did no publicity stunts before her album. as for Britney….desperately TRYING to be different is more like it because she knows her old stuff ain’t gonna get her nowhere. her career is on the line right now so she’s in NEED of something new.

It’s not just hip hop that’s being played now…it’s everything. Have people noticed that there were like 100 rock bands that came out this year alone…….rock and r&b/hip hop is the new thing. Britney CAN”T do either….in fact she’s incapable of pulling off a rock song or r&b song….so she has to result to a dance track. I think she’s definitely playing it safe. I wasn’t surprised with this new sound at all. I was expecting a dance song with very limited vocals..and if you listen to it….a dog could pull off singing this song on key……..the beat dominated the track. Britney’s voice was what make the song annoying…not necessarily the song.

Britney is so old!!!!! Her music sucks just like her career. She’s looking much like the harlot lately. What an example is she setting with young kids. She makes everyone sick with her little girl wannabe innocence. Please Britney, good that Justin left your sorry ass.
